Kurdish Artist Rights
A campaign in support of Kurdish artist rights.
Main objectives
To establish copyright law in Kurdistan where the rights of the artists and the owners of an original work are respected, and the artists become aware of the sales process, and receive their royalties.
Trying to facilitate and pave the way to establish copyright law in Kurdistan as a first and fundamental step, in order that the financial rights of the artists are safeguarded and not abused, and that artists can participate in and become aware of the sales process of their products.
Changing the process of producing and distributing music from its current position (August 2010, a pirate copy system, where the rights of Kurdish artists are not respected and are abused) to a more modern, civilized and lawful system, where the rights of the artists and the owners of an original work are respected, and the artists become aware of the sales process, and receive their royalties.
By the time that copyright is established as an issue in Kurdistan, to find a lawful solution to the problem of distributing Kurdish music, by selling music via trusted and lawful digital shops, where the artists get royalties, and become aware of and engaged in the sales process.
Hoping, through the implementation of copyright law, that the way ahead becomes fairer, with organizations and companies being born to watch and safeguard the process of distributing Kurdish music and art, and Kurdish music and art being distributed legally and in a civilized way, so that Kurdish artists’ rights are respected.
Reason:
In the absence of copyright law Kurdish Music is sold and pirate copies made without the owner’s permission, and without the owner’s participation in the income.
